Jochen Spuck – Switzerland

Born 1967 I am 41 years old now, german by origin, but living
in Switzerland since 1991. After university and several years in
industry I am a Patent researcher now, for the special areas of
polymers, chemistry and familiar. Working meanwhile nearly only in
front of a PC every day, I always needed something else in life, that
has been riding Mountain Bikes since 1991 (beside my family). In 2005 I got
infected by the 29er virus and will probably not ever change again. I
have founded the twentyniner.ch internet forum in 2006 with my
collegue Napfgeist, establishing itself meanwhile to probably the best
know platform for the german speaking 29er community.

In 1992 and 1993 I was riding my first races in Switzerland. I
actually made it on third rank in a Cross-Country race at that time. I
then tried some marathon races, such as Grand Raid Cristalp. However, after a
couple of years I’d enough of biking for a while and stopped
until the beautiful summer of 2003, when I completely started again,
nearly from scratch, but full of enthusiasm, which has not left me
since. Since 2003 I have done such races as 24 Hours in Munich as wells as
many of the longest marathons in Switzerland available, such as Swiss
Bike Masters (120km, 5100hm), Nationalpark (140km, 4300hm), Grand Raid
Cristalp, Golden Race, Eiger Bike, Elsabiketrophy, Generoso Bike,
etc….My goal is always to finish in the first third of the field,
but I mostly do reach only the first half. However, now with new
motivation I will do better.
